American Icons Battle in Stamp Madness

Posted on March 27, 2013 by USPS Stamps

Stamp Madness is off to a roaring start! Yesterday more of you voted for Johnny Cash than for Vintage Seed Packets, so we’ll see the Man in Black again next week in the semifinals. Today two American icons compete: Grand Central Terminal (which was released on February 1) and Patriotic Star (which was just released last week).

Definitely the Grand Central Terminal stamp: the subject, the history, the artwork–would you look at that light streaming in through the windows? Mind you, the Patriotic Star would be a good choice for general 1st Class Forever stamp, but there is no contest between the two in my mind.

Patriotic Star. Stamps with denominations are my favorites. I don’t know that I will ever purchase a stamp worth almost $20.
