The new Bicycling (Forever®) stamps will be issued tomorrow at the Minneapolis Central Library in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and we can hardly wait!
The First Day of Issue ceremony, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 11 a.m. Among those dedicating the stamps will be Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak. The lively event will include some fun, interactive elements, so make sure you bring your bike!
It’s National Bike to Work (or School) Day—one of our favorite days of the year! With beautiful, spring weather spreading across the country, there’s no better time to shake up your morning commute by hopping on a bike. Avoid the headache of commuter traffic, get some exercise, and help the Earth—it’s a win-win proposition!
Did you bike to work this morning? Let us know about your experience in the comments.
Our Go Green tip of the day: Ride a bike! Now that the weather’s getting nicer, riding your bike to work or the store will be even more enjoyable. Not only will you save money on gas, you’ll get some exercise, too! Look up community bike trails and make your next family outing a bike trip. You’ll be amazed at how easy living eco-friendly can be!
Later this year, the U.S. Postal Service will honor one of the most popular outdoor activities in the country with a set of four stamps. Each of the colorful Bicycling (Forever®) stamps features a different kind of bike and rider: a young child just learning to ride with training wheels, a commuter pedaling to work, a road racer intent on the finish line, and an airborne BMX rider. Whether riding along a lakeside path or through the bike lanes of a bustling city, bicycling is therapeutic and just plain fun!
