Thank you to everyone who came out to the Major League Baseball All-Stars First Day of Issue ceremony on Friday at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York! What better place to celebrate four great stars?
Held during Hall of Fame Weekend, the event drew a great crowd and we had a blast honoring these baseball legends. Dedicating the stamps were (from left to right) Louis J. Giuliano, member, U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors; Tony Gwynn, member, National Baseball Hall of Fame; Patrick R. Donahoe, Postmaster General, CEO, U.S. Postal Service; Jane Forbes Clark, Chairman of the Board, National Baseball Hall of Fame; and Brian Kenny, on-air personality, MLB Network.
The four players honored on these stamps—Ted Williams, Larry Doby, Willie Stargell, and Joe DiMaggio—capture our imagination for their exploits. They symbolize the best of baseball and, in a way, the best of ourselves. Each of these Hall of Famers was a perennial All-Star selection and each left an indelible impression on the game.
We had a wonderful time in Cooperstown! We hope you’ll join us next time!
Our next event is the Innovative Choreographers First Day of Issue ceremony this Saturday, July 28, in Los Angeles, California. Will you be there?
